IHSW Bust...

The best laid plans as they say... get trashed.  I was going to give my computer it's 3 year cleaning Thursday night but it turned into a total gut job cleaning.  Those with an electronics degree know what I mean, for those who don't I've got snaps.

You maybe wondering now why would this stop me from stitching?  The answer is my white sewing/craft table is currently covered with said gutted computer and before I can start my HAED project the fabric's edges need to be sewn and gridded on the table in question.

Right now I'm posting this update from a 15 year old HP netbook running windows 10 which I hate, but that's another story, and it's running slower then frozen maple syrup in winter.  So I will end this by saying I'll try to have some stitchy news sometime next week.

Happy Stash Fulfillment Week!

Finally after weeks of waiting things started showing up in the mail this week.   On Monday my evenweave Addicts Box came in from HAED, here's a snap with a list of the goodies that came with it.

Woodland Guardian MC by Anne Stokes
Lincoln 14ct. Zweigart (summer khaki)
HAED fridge magnet
Bees wax house
Pink stone stitch markers w/ bag
Ship's manor cotton floss limited ed. (Cupid)
Valdani #12 pearl cotton (Distant Mauve - Med.)

Thankfully I added a note to my wish list on HAED so I got the chart I really wanted.  The rest of the stuff is OK, but I really hate the fabric they sent.  Khaki is so blawh and the stitch count being 14 I'll never use it.  On the other hand I love the ship's manor floss; it reminds me of cotton candy or sherbet ice cream.  This was a one shot for me; I doubt I'll ever spend my money on another surprise box.

Today my long awaited floss kit came from HAED along with a couple other goodies I got as well - A Stitch In Time/HAED mouse pad and a package of 5 John James Petite Size 28 Tapestry Needles.
Plus a couple of unexpected gifts! - A glass bead needle threader and a wooden needle holder/tube.

A few other things that have come in the mail since May 1st -  A grime guard by StormbornBoutique for my 17x17 q-snap, two packages of  Easy-Count Guideline by www.rseasycount.com, one Mageyes hands free magnifier, and my 1yd x 1yd 7in fabric for my HAED chart "A Stitch In Time by Aimee Stewart".

Tomorrow I start surging the edges and gridding the fabric, hopefully I'll put in some x-stitches over the weekend for IHSW.

My First Unofficial Non-Stitchy IHSW Weekend

Since I really didn't do any stitching on my new HAED project I can't really post to Joyce's official stitch-along page.

What I did do was to start preparing for "A Stitch In Time".  I hunted around the internet and found the wholesale site www.yarntree.com to buy the fabric size I needed for the chart. Ivory Zweigart Hardanger 22ct. 36"x43" for $31.40us; that should be coming in the mail sometime next week.

Saturday I went hunting through my stitchery supplies and found a storage box to put the 237 plastic floss bobbins in it.  I discovered that Adobe Reader has the ability to select areas within a PDF page, so I printed out the symbols and DMC color numbers on Avery full sheet labels, cut them apart and stuck them on the floss bobbins.  I've only printed out 3 of the 6 pages of symbols/numbers so far and managed to cut apart and affix one page of them to bobbins.  I have a funny feeling I'm going to need a second or maybe third storage box.

I just hope that HAED has a mother's day sale so I can order my floss kit.  In the mean time I can keep myself busy with prepping the floss bobbins instead of driving myself crazy waiting for the next HAED sale.

Well that's all for this month.  Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Getting my STASH Together...

Well I finally took the plunge, not only did I start a new blog (am I crazy or what?) but I'm collecting the materials to start my first HAED BAP (Big A$$ Project). All I have left to get is the floss and the fabric.  I plan to get the max color kit from HAED's website, but since that will cost well over $200.00us I will have to wait until they have another 30% off or greater online sale.  In the mean time you can see what I've got so far.  If you're interested in the coffee mug or just about anything else with the "A Stitch In Time" logo on it check out Society 6's website.

I have no idea how soon I'll be posting again or how often.  Well.... since I have decided to devote at least one full weekend to the projects on this blog - i.e. IHSW SAL, I'll have at least one post a month. I haven't decided if I'm going to keep this blog strictly for HAED projects or add some non-HAED projects as well.

Well that's it for this first blog post. Thanks for stopping by and please follow me!!
